Hole-in-one turns out to be a sound investment for winning golfer

Ludlow Wealth Management, sponsors of the Ladies Pleasington Putter Hole-in-One challenge at Blackburn’s Pleasington Golf Club, had to swing into action yet again last week as Sharon Hewer of Royal Birkdale aced the 16th hole to win herself £500 worth of vouchers.

Having thought it would be a while before the challenge would be met since taking up sponsorship of this 36 -hole scratch competition four years ago, the company has now seen a hole-in-one achieved twice.

Sharon was presented with the vouchers by Ludlow senior financial planning consultant Steve Bayes who said: “Scoring a hole-in-one is no easy feat for pros, let alone amateur golfers who are having to avoid a few floods following torrential rain the night before.

“We have been delighted to show our support for ladies golf in the area. In fact, Sharon’s achievement clearly highlights the quality of the ladies game as two winners in four years is a fantastic record.”

The Pleasington Putter, held on 28 June 2009, attracted a field of more than 50 competitors from all parts of the UK. The overall competition was Corisande Lee of West Lancs Golf Club with a six under par two round total of 142.

Ludlow, whose directors are very keen golfers themselves, has been actively supporting the local community for a number of years. More recently the company has been keen to develop beyond its Southport based operation within the area and this month saw its merger with Chris Dewhurst Financial Planning in Longridge.
