With rumours that the new budget released has ignored business pleas not to increase the income tax gap between Scotland and the rest of the UK, the Scottish Finance Secretary, Derek Mackay, still stressed that the budget would protect Scotland from the worst effects of Brexit.
Mr Mackay advised that his budget would invest record sums in the health service, as well as providing extra money for childcare, and protect education funding.
In regards to business and tax, Mackay stated that there would be a real terms cut in business rates, as well as lower income thresholds increasing by inflation, with higher thresholds being frozen.
